TLDR More research is needed to understand and manage angioedema in pregnant women with lupus.
This article discusses a rare case of angioedema in a 24-year-old pregnant woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). SLE is a chronic autoimmune disease more prevalent in women of reproductive age, with a prevalence of 20 to 150 cases per 100,000 people. The patient presented with symptoms including reddish facial spots, swollen lips, a rash on the palms, mouth ulcers, and hair loss. The case highlights the need for further research on angioedema in pregnant SLE patients to improve understanding and management of such cases.
