TLDR The study developed a reliable method to measure active ingredients in hair nourisher products using HPLC.
The study aimed to develop and validate a simultaneous analytical method for active ingredients in hair nourisher products, such as nicotinamide, tocopherol, salicylic acid, dexpanthenol, and benzyl nicotinate, using HPLC. The ingredients were separated on a C18 column with acetonitrile/phosphate buffer as the mobile phase and detected at UV wavelengths of 220, 270, and 300 nm. The calibration curve showed linearity in the range of 12.5 to 800 μg/mL, with recoveries of 97.3 to 103.5% (RSD 0.9 to 2.8%) in liquid matrix and 101.9 to 115.9% (RSD 0.7 to 7.7%) in shampoo matrix. The method was successfully applied to commercial hair nourisher products, all of which met the criteria, suggesting the method's utility for quality control and development of hair nourisher products.
