TLDR Higher FABP4 levels may help diagnose androgenetic alopecia early.
This study investigated the serum levels of fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) in patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), involving 30 male and 20 female patients, compared to 30 healthy volunteers. The research found that AGA patients had significantly higher levels of FABP4 than the control group. The elevated FABP4 levels suggested a potential role in the pathogenesis of AGA and indicated that FABP4 could serve as a biomarker for early diagnosis of the condition, with high sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy.
