TLDR New grading scale accurately measures hair loss severity and treatment effectiveness.
The paper presents a semiquantitative grading scale for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) based on hair coverage and hair parameters from 1,602 patients with AGA. The grading scale is representative and quantitative, and reliability and validity studies showed that it exhibited excellent inter- and intra-assessor reliability. The new grading system is easy to learn and use and can be a valuable tool for evaluating the extent of AGA and effectiveness of its treatment. The grading scale can more sensitively show alopecia severity and changes in treatment effectiveness compared to previous grading methods.
