TLDR H. pylori infection may be linked to the hair shedding condition Telogen Effluvium.
The study investigated the presence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in 50 female patients with Telogen Effluvium (TE), a scalp condition characterized by diffuse hair shedding, and compared them to 30 healthy females. Laboratory tests, including complete blood count, serum ferritin, and stool analysis for H. pylori Ag were performed. The results showed that haemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (HCT), and serum ferritin levels were significantly lower in the TE patients compared to the control group (p=0.002), suggesting a potential link between H. pylori infection and TE.
