TLDR A 76-year-old man's grey hair turned back to its original color after radiotherapy.
A 76-year-old male experienced unexpected scalp hair repigmentation after receiving radiotherapy for squamous cell carcinoma. Initially having grey hair for over 10 years, the patient underwent 45 Gy of radiotherapy in 25 fractions, which led to temporary alopecia. Upon hair regrowth four months later, his hair returned to its youthful orange-brown color. This rare case contributes to the limited literature on hair repigmentation post-radiotherapy, suggesting that hair follicle melanocytes and melanocyte stem cell plasticity may play a role in hair color restoration, influenced by factors such as radiation.
