TLDR A scalp blood vessel issue from hair transplant was successfully treated with a special liquid agent.
A rare case of a traumatic arteriovenous fistula of the scalp due to hair transplantation (AVFHT) was successfully treated using percutaneous and endovascular embolization with coils and the precipitating hydrophobic injectable liquid (PHIL) embolic agent. This case, possibly the first to use PHIL for AVFHT, involved a patient who developed a painful scalp swelling 2 years post-hair transplant. The treatment effectively embolized the fistula between branches of the right superficial temporal and occipital arteries and veins. The patient recovered smoothly and remained healthy 1 month post-procedure, suggesting that PHIL embolic agent is a viable alternative treatment for AVFHT.
