major blood vessel supplying blood to the scalp

The Superficial Temporal Artery (STA) is a major blood vessel that supplies blood to the scalp and portions of the face. It branches off from the external carotid artery and runs along the side of the head, just in front of the ear. This artery is often used in medical procedures, such as in the diagnosis and treatment of temporal arteritis, a condition that causes inflammation of the blood vessels.
