TLDR The KD spreader makes hair transplants safer and easier, especially for beginners, by reducing damage to hair follicles.
Six years ago, a technical note highlighted the use of the KD spreader in follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplantation. The KD spreader, a tool comprised of a shaft and a hook, was found to be effective in reducing damage to hair follicles during transplantation, leading to improved hair growth results post-procedure. The tool was designed to address challenges such as operator fatigue, providing efficient gripping, maximum visualization of the slit, and better stretching force for the dilation of the slit to adjust larger follicular unit grafts. The KD spreader was concluded to improve the ability of beginners to perform FUE extraction and implantation smoothly, reduce the risk of physical trauma to the graft, allow multiple implanters to work in the same field, and limit the chance of graft dehydration. The number of people involved in the study was not specified.
