TLDR Ahmad's sharp scissor technique reduces hair follicle damage without taking more time.
In a double-blind, randomized trial involving 10 patients, the sharp scissor technique for strip harvesting in hair transplantation, developed by Muhammad Ahmad, was compared to Haber's tissue spreader and Pathomvanich's skin hooks. The study found that Ahmad's technique resulted in a lower transection rate of hair follicles, with an average rate of 2.465%, compared to 2.822% for the tissue spreader and 2.689% for the skin hooks. The operation times were not significantly different among the techniques, with the sharp scissor averaging 49.9 seconds. The study concluded that the sharp scissor technique is a safe and effective method for reducing follicle transection without increasing the duration of the procedure.
