TLDR New treatments for skin conditions show promise, especially Coacillium® for hair growth in young people with alopecia areata.
The 2024 American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting highlighted several promising treatments for dermatological conditions. Notably, Coacillium® showed significant hair growth in children and adolescents with alopecia areata, with 47% achieving SALT scores of ≤20 by Week 48. Other key findings included the efficacy of ESK-001 for plaque psoriasis, brepocitinib for cicatricial alopecia, and remibrutinib for hidradenitis suppurativa. Delgocitinib cream was effective for chronic hand eczema, and PP405 showed potential for treating androgenetic alopecia by activating hair follicle stem cells, leading to a Phase I clinical trial.
