TLDR Minoxidil caused hair regrowth, but cyproterone acetate did not maintain it.
In the 1983 study, a male volunteer with frontal alopecia was treated with 20 mg of cyproterone acetate and 5 mg of minoxidil topically on a daily basis. During the treatment period, new hair growth was observed on the alopecic scalp. However, after discontinuing the minoxidil treatment while continuing the cyproterone acetate treatment, the newly grown hair was lost. This suggests that minoxidil was responsible for the hair regrowth, and cyproterone acetate did not have a noticeable effect on maintaining the new hair growth.
