TLDR Red LED light improves the quality of Angora rabbit wool by promoting hair growth.
In a study conducted 4 years ago on 50 three-month-old Su line Angora rabbits, it was found that exposure to different colors of LED light had varying effects on hair follicle development and fiber quality. The rabbits were exposed to red, green, blue, white, and black LED lights for 73 days. The results showed that the red LED light group had a higher wool yield and shoulder fiber length compared to the white, green, and black groups. The fiber diameter of the red group was the lowest, and the coarse fiber ratio was significantly lower than the green group. The red group also had the highest number of secondary follicles and the highest serum melatonin levels, which is believed to promote hair follicle development. Therefore, the study concluded that red LED light can improve fiber quality by enhancing the secretion of melatonin to promote hair follicle development.
