Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing 5% and 1% Topical Minoxidil for the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia in Japanese Men

This study compared the effectiveness of 5% and 1% topical minoxidil for treating androgenetic alopecia in Japanese men. The trial included 300 male patients who were administered either 5% or 1% topical minoxidil for 24 weeks. The study found that 5% topical minoxidil was more effective than 1% topical minoxidil in promoting hair growth, as measured by hair count, investigators' assessment, and patients' impression of hair growth. The incidence of adverse events was similar between the two groups, with dermatological adverse events being more common in the 5% topical minoxidil group. Overall, the study demonstrated that 5% topical minoxidil is more efficacious in treating androgenetic alopecia in men than 1% topical minoxidil.
