Quercetin Stimulates Melanogenesis in Hair Follicle Melanocyte of the Mouse

    TLDR Quercetin boosts melanin production in mouse hair follicles.
    The study investigated the effects of quercetin on melanin production in hair follicle tissues from C3H/HeN Jel mice. It was found that quercetin stimulated melanogenesis, leading to increased melanin synthesis in these tissues. The enhancement of melanin production was dependent on the concentration of quercetin. The study also observed that the expression of tyrosinase protein and tyrosinase-related protein-2 (TRP-2) increased with higher concentrations of quercetin, although their mRNA expression levels remained unchanged. This suggested that quercetin enhanced melanin producibility by stimulating the synthesis of these proteins in the hair follicle tissues.

      Switching from minoxidil foam to topical solution and considering adding caffeine, melatonin, or cetirizine. Currently using 2.5mg oral minoxidil and 1mg oral finasteride, planning to ask for 0.5mg oral dutasteride and 5mg oral minoxidil.
