TLDR PSI-MS quickly and accurately measures finasteride in tablets, helping with quality control.
This paper discusses the use of paper spray ionization mass spectrometry (PSI-MS) with a non-isotopically labeled internal standard for the quantitative analysis of finasteride tablets dissolution content. The study found that PSI-MS is a promising method for the rapid screening of finasteride due to its easy-to-use and testing speed. The method uses a non-isotopically labeled internal standard and is able to accurately measure the amount of finasteride and its impurities in the tablets. The use of methanol/water solvent and longer drying times improved the sensitivity and accuracy of the method. This method could be useful for quality control and pharmacokinetic studies of finasteride tablets.
