TLDR Premature graying of hair significantly harms psychological and social wellbeing.
The study evaluated the quality of life (QoL) in 100 patients from Western India with premature graying of hair (canities) before age 25, using a modified dermatology life quality index (DLQI) questionnaire. Results showed a mean DLQI score of 14.3±6.76, with 71% of patients experiencing a very large to extremely large impact on their QoL. Common issues included guilt, mood fluctuations, and a need for medical intervention. There was no significant difference in DLQI scores between boys and girls. The study concluded that premature canities significantly affected patients' psychological and social wellbeing, potentially leading to long-term detrimental effects.
