TLDR A single injection of PTH–CBD can increase bone density for up to a year.
The study demonstrated that a single injection of Parathyroid Hormone–Collagen Binding Domain (PTH–CBD) significantly increased bone mineral density (BMD) in normal female C57BL/6J mice, with increases of up to 22.2% at 6 months and 12.8% at 12 months for intraperitoneal administration, and 15.2% at 6 months and 14.3% at 12 months for subcutaneous administration. PTH–CBD was also found to concentrate in bone and skin, and histological analysis showed an increase in anagen VI hair follicles. These results suggested that PTH–CBD could sustain BMD increases for up to 1 year, highlighting its potential as a therapy for osteoporosis.
