TLDR Pterostilbene significantly reduces prostate enlargement and has strong antioxidant effects.
The study evaluated the effects of Pterostilbene on benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) using a rat model with 48 male rats divided into six groups. Pterostilbene, found in blueberries and grapes, was tested for its anti-proliferative and antioxidant properties. The results showed that Pterostilbene, particularly at a dose of 200 mg/kg, significantly reduced hyperplastic nodules in the prostate and restored epithelial cells to normal, demonstrating potent anti-proliferative effects. Additionally, Pterostilbene exhibited strong antioxidant activity, comparable to Vitamin C and resveratrol, as assessed by the DPPH assay.
