The study evaluated the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on wound healing in the tongues of 108 normal and diabetic albino rats. The results showed that PRP treatment before wounding accelerated healing significantly by the 3rd day post-operation in both diabetic and non-diabetic rats. Complete healing was observed by the 7th day in subgroups treated with PRP after wounding, similar to non-diabetic controls, while untreated diabetic rats only showed partial healing. The study concluded that a single PRP injection could serve as a prophylactic and therapeutic measure to enhance wound healing in both diabetic and non-diabetic oral mucosal wounds.
