TLDR Adding Platelet-Rich Plasma to hair implantation improves hair growth and graft survival.
This study investigated the impact of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) on hair growth and graft survival in androgenetic alopecia patients undergoing Direct Hair Implantation (DHI). Conducted over 6 months with 14 participants, the randomized controlled trial compared DHI alone to DHI with PRP. Results indicated that the DHI+PRP group experienced significantly greater increases in hair length and graft density than the DHI group, with notable differences in hair length and follicle density at both 2 cm and 4 cm from the midline. Despite the promising findings, the study's small sample size and short duration suggest that further research is needed to confirm PRP's efficacy as an adjuvant therapy in hair loss management.
