TLDR Using platelet-rich plasma with primary repair improves healing in penile fractures.
The study investigated the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on wound healing in rats with experimental penile fractures. Thirty-five rats were divided into five groups, including conservative treatment, bandage application, primary repair, primary repair with PRP, and a non-operative control group. The results showed that the primary repair combined with PRP led to the best healing outcomes, with improved clinical and histopathological findings compared to other groups. In contrast, conservative treatments resulted in persistent fracture formats and complications such as infection, edema, excessive fibrosis, and hyperemia.
