This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for treating carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) by analyzing eight high-quality randomized controlled trials involving 220 patients. The study found that PRP was more effective than other conservative treatments in the short and mid-term for reducing symptom severity, pain, and improving wrist function and sensory peak latency. However, in the mid-long-term, PRP only showed significant improvement in symptom severity. The study concluded that while PRP injections were effective in the mid-term, further large-scale trials were needed to assess long-term adverse effects and establish standardized treatment protocols.
