TLDR PRP is a safe and effective treatment for hair growth in alopecia areata.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy in treating alopecia areata in 3 patients. The patients received a combination of PRP therapy, topical treatments, and in one case, intralesional injections. PRP was administered intradermally every 4 weeks, with significant hair regrowth observed after 3 sessions and optimal results after 4-6 sessions. No major side effects were reported. The study concluded that PRP is a safe, easy-to-perform, and effective treatment for promoting hair growth in alopecia areata, though further research on standardized PRP protocols is needed.
