TLDR Using platelet-rich plasma and fat grafting to treat nerve pain showed promising results with no side effects.
In 2017, a 78-year-old male with medication-resistant neuropathic pain in the inferior alveolar nerve was treated with a combination of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and fat grafting. The procedure, performed under local anesthesia, aimed to alleviate pain by creating a barrier and promoting nerve regeneration. Six months post-treatment, the patient reported complete pain resolution and a 50% survival of the graft. This case indicated the potential of PRP and fat grafting as alternative treatments for neuropathic pain, with lasting effects and no known side effects, but emphasized the need for further clinical studies to confirm these findings.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
