TLDR Stress can trigger and worsen vitiligo.
The study evaluated provocating factors of vitiligo in 100 patients compared to 100 healthy controls. It found that stress was a significant factor, reported by 88% of patients, while sun exposure and trauma were less common, affecting 4% and 8% of patients, respectively. The mean age of vitiligo onset was 19.6 years, with a mean disease duration of 20.4 years. The study concluded that stressful events, sun exposure, and trauma could trigger vitiligo, with emotional stress potentially worsening the condition.
