Post-Traumatic Neuroma After Hair Transplantation

    TLDR A woman's chronic head pain after hair transplant surgery was cured by removing a post-traumatic neuroma.
    The document reports a case of post-traumatic neuroma following hair transplantation surgery, which has not been previously described in the literature. A 37-year-old woman experienced chronic left occipital pain after undergoing follicular unit strip surgery 7 years prior. A hairless small lesion was found in the left occipital region, and upon compression, a slightly bulging mass was palpated, causing a tingling sensation. The lesion measured 5 x 7 mm and was located on scar tissue. Histopathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of post-traumatic neuroma. After the lesion was surgically excised, the patient had complete resolution of her occipital pain at a 1-month follow-up. The document also discusses the characteristics of post-traumatic neuroma and its typical presentation, including headaches and pricking pain upon compression of the lesion. Surgical excision was shown to be an effective treatment for this patient.
