TLDR Polysulfonic acid mucopolysaccharide can reduce skin scarring.
The study investigated the anti-scarring effects of polysulfonic acid mucopolysaccharide (MSP) in 60 male Sprague Dawley rats, divided into control, model, and MSP groups. The results showed that MSP significantly improved skin tissue thickness and reduced inflammatory infiltration compared to the model group. Additionally, MSP-fed rats exhibited down-regulation of collagen types I and III and α-SMA, indicating a modulation of the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway. The findings suggest that MSP has potential clinical applications for minimizing skin scarring.
