Applications of Platelet-Rich Plasma in the Treatment of Dermatological Disorders

Pham Thi IThanh, Nguyen Dac Tu
TLDR PRP therapy is effective and safe for skin conditions like wound healing and hair loss.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is highlighted for its regenerative effects and favorable benefit-to-risk ratio in dermatology, particularly for conditions like wound healing, alopecia, skin rejuvenation, scar revision, and striae distensae. PRP is rich in growth factors that aid tissue healing and angiogenesis, with minimal adverse effects. While PRP has been used both as a standalone and adjunctive treatment, the review emphasizes the need for standardized study designs and PRP protocols. Future research should prioritize large-scale randomized controlled trials with standardized methods and longer follow-up periods to solidify PRP's efficacy in cosmetic dermatology.
