TLDR Plant-based substances like chamomile and aloe vera may help treat PCOS symptoms.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common disorder in women aged 18-44, characterized by reproductive, endocrine, metabolic, and psychological issues. Current treatments are largely symptomatic and ineffective. This chapter discusses the potential of plant-based pharmacological substances like chamomile, aloe vera, cinnamon, flaxseed, spearmint, and liquorice in treating PCOS. These plants may help reduce cysts, regulate menstrual cycles, and alleviate pain. Preclinical studies suggest these herbs can address inflammation, diabetes, hyperandrogenism, hyperlipidemia, cancer, and more, offering a promising alternative for managing PCOS symptoms and associated conditions.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
