TLDR Juniperus excelsa, Olea oleaster, and Olea europaea have potential as natural antioxidants and wound healing agents.
The study examined the phytochemical, antioxidant, hair growth, and wound healing properties of Juniperus excelsa, Olea oleaster, and Olea europaea. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of saponins, cardiac glycosides, terpenes, phenols, and carbohydrates. Wild olive extracts exhibited the highest antioxidant activity due to their flavonoid and phenol content. In hair growth experiments, wild and cultivar olive extracts showed significant growth increases of 1 cm and 1.05 cm over 10 days, respectively, while Juniperus excelsa showed the least growth at 0.5 cm. In wound healing tests on 12 mice, Juniperus excelsa extract showed the most significant recovery. These findings suggest these plants have potential medicinal and therapeutic applications as natural antioxidants and wound healing agents.
