The study investigates the effects of Juniperus communis extract (JCE) combined with the chemotherapy drug 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) on oral cancer cells. The combination was found to inhibit cancer cell growth more effectively than 5-FU alone by inducing cell cycle arrest and promoting apoptosis through the activation of caspases. JCE enhanced the expression of tumor suppressor proteins and reduced drug resistance, suggesting its potential as an adjuvant therapy. The findings highlight the synergistic effects of JCE and 5-FU, offering a promising approach to reduce side effects and improve treatment efficacy for oral cancer.
