TLDR Cardamonin may help treat oral cancer by promoting cell death and stopping cancer cell growth.
This research investigates the potential of cardamonin, a compound from Myristica fragrans, in treating oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) by targeting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Through in vitro experiments, cardamonin was found to inhibit the migration, proliferation, and invasion of OSCC cells and promote apoptosis by regulating this pathway. The study identifies MMP9 and the PI3K/AKT pathway as key targets, suggesting that cardamonin could serve as a natural therapeutic option for OSCC.
