TLDR Low-level laser therapy is the most supported non-drug treatment for hair loss, but combining it with other methods may be promising.
This review examines various physical treatments for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), highlighting low-level laser therapy (LLLT) as the only FDA-cleared non-pharmaceutical option. While LLLT is supported by the majority of evidence, other treatments like microneedling, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy, fractional laser therapy, and nonablative laser therapy are also explored. The review suggests that nonablative laser treatments and multimodal approaches, such as combining PEMF with LLLT, show promise and warrant further investigation.
