TLDR Mexican women's hair is between Asian and Caucasian hair in thickness and shape, with varied strength and some damage.
Hairs from 257 Mexican women in Mexico City were analyzed for fiber dimension, shape, and tensile strength, revealing that Mexican hair was intermediate between Asian and Caucasian hair in diameter and cross-sectional ellipticity. This aligned with the ethnic origins of Mexican people. The study also highlighted significant variability in hair properties both within and between individuals, and unexpectedly high levels of hair tensile damage were sometimes observed.
