The study investigated the effects of Phellodendri Cortex Extract on benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in rats, which was induced by castration and testosterone treatment. The results showed that Phellodendri Cortex Extract reduced tissue damage in the prostate and inhibited the expression of 5α-reductase genes, which are associated with BPH. These findings suggested that Phellodendri Cortex Extract could protect glandular epithelial cells and inhibit stromal proliferation, indicating its potential as a treatment for BPH.
