TLDR The new palladium catalyst is effective and reusable for making pharmaceutical ingredients.
A new Supported Ionic Liquid Phase (SILP) palladium catalyst was developed and characterized, showing highly dispersed Pd nanoparticles (1-2 nm). It was effective in aminocarbonylation reactions, including the synthesis of pharmaceutical ingredients like CX-546, Moclobemide, Nikethamide, and a Finasteride precursor. The study highlighted the importance of fine-tuning reaction conditions for different substrates and noted that palladium loss varied with the nature of the reaction partners.
