TLDR Polycystic ovary syndrome causes chronic inflammation affecting all body systems, but proper nutrition, exercise, and supplements can improve the condition.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent female endocrine disorder characterized by hyperandrogenism, leading to excessive weight gain, insulin resistance, hirsutism, acne, and androgenic alopecia. The disorder is associated with visceral fat hypertrophy and androgen excess, which are linked to insulin resistance severity, PCOS phenotype, and cardiovascular risk factors. This condition results in chronic low-intensity inflammation affecting all organs and systems due to abnormal secretion of adipocyte-derived products. However, improvements can be made through proper nutrition, physical activity, and exercise, which can enhance body composition, metabolic, and endocrine functioning. Additionally, supplements such as minerals, vitamins, and probiotics may help slow the progression of the syndrome.
