TLDR A 9-year-old girl developed type 1 diabetes and alopecia after being treated for a rare kidney disease.
A 9-year-old female initially diagnosed with membranous glomerulonephritis and treated with methylprednisolone, prednisolone, cyclophosphamide, and Mycophenolate mofetil, later developed type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and alopecia areata. This case highlights the association of T1DM with other autoimmune diseases, including membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, which is rare in pediatric patients. Her thyroid function, celiac screen, liver enzymes, and other relevant tests were normal. This is the first reported pediatric case of such an association.
