TLDR Methotrexate therapy for psoriasis may help regrow hair in some cases of male pattern baldness.
The document reported a case of a 64-year-old man with androgenetic alopecia who experienced hair regrowth after starting methotrexate therapy for psoriasis, following the failure of traditional treatments. The authors proposed that methotrexate might inhibit gonadal steroidogenesis, leading to lower testosterone levels, or increase testosterone aromatization at hair follicles, which could explain the observed hair growth. This suggested that partial reversal of androgenetic alopecia might be a side effect of methotrexate therapy.
