TLDR Enzymatically extracted bear oil has more unsaturated fats and significantly increases hair growth in mice.
The study optimized the enzymatic extraction process of bear oil, achieving an extraction rate of 81.89%, significantly higher than the traditional method's 20-30%. Optimal conditions included pH 6.5-7, temperature 52-54°C, liquid-feed ratio 2:1, enzyme digestion time 4.5-5 hours, and enzyme addition of 5000-6000 U·g−1. GC-MS analysis revealed that bear oil extracted enzymatically had a higher content of unsaturated fatty acids compared to the traditional boiling method. Pharmacodynamic experiments on 50 KM mice showed that a hair regrowth gel containing bear oil significantly increased hair weight and follicle number, particularly in the high-dose group, indicating its potential for promoting hair growth.
