TLDR Bear oil promotes hair growth and increases hair density.
In a study on C57BL/6 mice, bear oil (Selenarctos thibetanus) was tested for its effects on hair growth. The mice were divided into four groups: a negative control (70% EtOH), a positive control (5% minoxidil), and two experimental groups (2% and 5% bear oil). The treatments were applied topically once a day for 2 weeks. The 5% bear oil group showed faster hair regrowth, increased hair density, and more hair follicles in the anagen phase compared to the other groups. These findings suggested that bear oil could prolong the anagen phase and might be a potential new therapeutic source for promoting hair growth.
