TLDR Omega-3 fatty acids may help manage hair loss in middle-aged women.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of omega-3 fatty acids in treating telogen effluvium (TE) in 120 middle-aged women over a year. TE is a common cause of diffuse non-scarring hair loss, often causing anxiety. The study found that omega-3 fatty acids, which are important in preventing and treating various diseases, may help manage TE. The baseline characteristics of the women, including age, BMI, and telogen hair count, were recorded, and the study concluded that TE can be distinguished from traditional acute telogen effluvium by its long fluctuating course.
