TLDR Minoxidil, finasteride, and PRP are the most effective and accessible treatments for male pattern hair loss.
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common dermatological disorder of hair loss, directly related to androgenic hormones and has a significant genetic influence. This review analyzed therapeutic options for AGA, considering the psychosocial impact on bald individuals, and evaluated the adherence and efficacy of existing therapies. The therapeutic methods for AGA reported were minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), low-level light therapy, cetirizine, botulinum toxin type A, and hair transplantation. Among these, minoxidil, finasteride, and PRP therapies stand out due to their greater accessibility and high efficacy.
