TLDR Eczema is the most common skin condition in children.
The study focused on the prevalence of noninfectious dermatoses in 550 children aged from newborn to 12 years at Villupuram Medical College. It found that eczema was the most common condition across various age groups, followed by papulosquamous disorders, papular urticaria, and pigmentary disorders. In newborns, physiological skin changes were most prevalent, while in infants, eczema was followed by pigmentary disorders and other conditions like mongolian spots and alopecia areata. The study concluded that these conditions were common, but emphasized the need for larger-scale studies to better understand their prevalence.
