TLDR Nizoral improved menstrual cycles and reduced hair growth in patients with hyperandrogenism.
The study examined the effects of Nizoral on the hypothalamo-pituitary-ovarian system in 25 patients with hyperandrogenism, with 11 having ovarian and 14 having suprarenal origins. It was found that most patients with oligomenorrhea and anovulation experienced a restoration of the menstrual cycle after 2-3 treatment courses. Additionally, there was a reduction in the rate of pathological hair growth. Nizoral treatment led to decreased testosterone levels, increased estradiol and progesterone levels, unchanged gonadotropins, and reduced urinary excretion of 17-ketosteroids.
