TLDR A new food supplement was highly effective in curing hair loss in young men.
In a study published in November 1992, Finnish researchers found that a new food supplement, ViviScal®, was highly effective in treating hereditary androgenic alopecia in young men. The study involved 20 men who were treated with ViviScal®, which contains marine extracts and a silica compound, for 6 months. They took 2 tablets daily and 19 of these participants experienced a complete clinical and histological cure of alopecia, with a 38% increase in non-vellus hair by the end of the study. In contrast, 17 men who received a treatment with fish extract for the same duration did not show improvement in their alopecia.
