TLDR Mimosa pudica extract may help create new sedative and anti-anxiety drugs.
The study evaluated the neuropharmacological activity of methanol extract of Mimosa pudica (MEMP) using Swiss Albino mice. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of tannins, alkaloids, terpenoids, and flavonoids in the extract. The research demonstrated that MEMP exhibited dose-dependent sedative activity at doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight, comparable to the standard drug Diazepam at 1 mg/kg body weight. The findings suggested that MEMP could be potentially useful in developing new sedative and anti-anxiety medications.
