The study aimed to determine the best nanoemulsion formulation combining virgin coconut oil (VCO) and candlenut oil for promoting hair growth in male white rats. Researchers tested different ratios of these oils, specifically 1:1, 1:3, and 3:1, and evaluated the formulations based on organoleptic properties, pH, viscosity, flow type, and % transmittance. The optimal formulation was found to be a 1:3 ratio of VCO to candlenut oil, which exhibited a yellow color, distinctive odor, and clear appearance. This formulation had a droplet size of 14.42 ± 0.03 nm and a zeta potential of -27.8 ± 1.02 mV. In hair growth activity tests, this nanoemulsion resulted in a hair length of 17.14 ± 0.42 mm and hair weight of 699.37 ± 7.91 mg, indicating its effectiveness in promoting hair growth.
