TLDR Inflammation may cause nail issues in Cronkhite–Canada Syndrome.
The study reported the first case of nail matrix pathology in a patient with Cronkhite–Canada Syndrome (CCS), which is characterized by gastrointestinal polyposis and a triad of cutaneous abnormalities: nail dystrophy, alopecia, and hyperpigmentation. The histologic evaluation revealed matrix hypergranulosis, suggesting that an inflammatory process might play a significant role in the pathogenesis of CCS.
